Install Driver Display USB Docking Station

Since we launched Slimbook, many of you have asked us to connect up to two extra monitors to your Slimbook (which added to the Slimbook itself would make a total of 3 screens).

As of today, you have for sale in the accessories section of the web site the Docking Station Universal HDMI Gigalan USB 3.0 with which apart from the above mentioned, you will have 3 extra USB 3.0 ports (requires 1 to connect, then you will have one remaining on your Slimbook and these 3 extra, making a total of 4 USB 3.0 ports), a RJ45 GigaLAN 10/100/1000 network input and a Jack 3.5 audio input and output.

Dock driver installation

To proceed with the installation of the program in our system, we will execute a Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T).

First we will need to install DKMS, so we will type the following:

sudo apt-get install dkms

Once DKMS is installed, we will proceed to download the driver desde nuestra sección de Descargas.

Con el driver ya descargado, de ser un fichero .zip tendremos que descomprimirlo, volvemos a ejecutar un terminal en el directorio donde se haya descargado el fichero.

Por último, pasaremos a instalar el driver escribiendo lo siguiente:

sudo chmod 755 displaylink-driver.run
sudo ./displaylink-driver.run

Una vez realizados estos pasos y reiniciando el sistema, nuestro dock estará preparado para ser conectado y debería de funcionar perfectamente.
