When running on an external USB SSD, I do not experience this issue.
The issue began, as far as I can tell after I rebooted to use kernel 7.1 RC.
After that, it did not matter which kernel I booted on to.
I am currently running on the external SSD. Both the internal and external SSDs have the same version of Manjaro KDE installed from the same USB key.
