Last Saturday, April 25th, parts of the Slimbook facilities were once again transformed into an epicenter of technology. We were pleased to host the Artificial Intelligence seminar organized by Linux Center, an event that marks the beginning of an ambitious new calendar of talks and workshops.
It was an intense morning of learning where the community demonstrated, once again, that the future of free software and AI is built through collaboration.
The event stood out for its practical approach, combining technical reflection with hands-on execution. Attendees enjoyed three key sessions:
The Context: Alejandro López opened the day with a talk on the "liminality" of AI, helping us navigate the current technological transition we are experiencing. His reflections sparked very interesting debates about the future of the sector during the coffee break.
Local Privacy: With Manuel S. Lemos, we put AI to the test at home. The workshop taught us how to run local models using Ollama and Fox, a perfect demonstration of how quality hardware boosts digital sovereignty without relying on the cloud.
Autonomous AI: To close, Lorenzo Carbonell surprised us with his workshop on how to create your own "JARVIS." Using OpenClaw and FastFlowLM, we saw how to turn our PCs into autonomous assistants capable of automating complex tasks.
The content of the three sessions is now available on the Linux Center YouTube channel, so you can watch them at your own pace:
For us at Slimbook, it is a source of pride to see our facilities filled with curiosity, debate, and shared code. This seminar was just the first step in a calendar full of activities that Linux Center has in store.
If you don't want to miss the next workshops and want to keep learning with us, stay tuned for upcoming posts.
See you at the next event!
