Set Smart Power modes via terminal or quick settings

Avatar

Hi there,

I was wondering if it's in any way possible to use the Slimbook Excalibur's Smart Power settings (Energy Saver, Balanced and/or Performance) in another way besides the FN + F10/11/12 shortcut. In one of my external keyboards I don't have an FN key, and I would like to know if there's a way to set a smart power setting via the terminal or set it via Gnome's quick settings in any way.

Thanks!

Good afternoon Thommel,

At the moment what you propose cannot be done on this model.
But we will take it into account for future versions.
Best regards,

Hi Eusebio,

Thanks for your reply! So if I understand correctly it's only possible to trigger any of the Smart Power modes by pressing FN + F10/11/12 on the laptops keyboard? Because i've also just tried it on one of my different keyboards (that does have a FN key) but then pressing FN + F10/11/12 results in the default action listed on that specific keyboard (print, settings or sleep mode).

If it's not possible at all (besides using the laptops keyboard) that would definitely be a nice feature to have in the future! It's also not possible via f.e. the terminal or anything?

Thanks :)

Hello all

Eusebio, Isn't it the same using "SlimBook Battery"?

Excalibur firmware hooks Fn + F10/F11/F12 directly. This is not done at operating system neither any Slimbook service. It is very handy because it works on any operating system without custom drivers or software. For that reason, using a external keyboard won't work for this.

We are however, looking for a solution for triggering smart power levels from software.

It is, however, syncing this with KDE's battery applet would be great, as currently you have to set the performance mode two times each time.
