I just wonder if there is any way to know if fan2 is actually working?

Thanks in advance

Perhaps I should rephrase my question:

What does fan2 do?

How can I test that it is working?

Thank you

Good morning, Andy

Both fans should be showing its respective readings, however on idle or in lightweight tasks, the second fan might not show anything

Try doing a stress test (with applications such as stress or s-tui) to see if the second fan shows the readings properly

I am not keen on running a stress test to raise the temperature until a fan may or may not kick in.

Can you tell me:

What the two fans actually do? I would assume fan1 is the cpu cooler and fan2 is for the motherboard?

Is there no low level access to each fan via /proc or /sys?

Thanks
