Disk encryption Slimbook OS kde.

Hello,

I'm looking to enable disk encryption.

To make it easy, I wanted to download the ISO for the Slimbook OS and reinstall my laptop with encryption enabled.

However, after downloading the iso (slimbookos-24-r96.iso) and checking the sha256sum (ok), it seems it is not bootable.
Of course after writing a key with the iso, the laptop is not able to boot as well.

I cannot provide a screenshot because I lack forum karma. (I strongly think you should remove this extremely frustrating karma rule).


So, the provided image seems to have an issue unless I missed something.


Alternatively, do you have a tool or a procedure to enable disk encryption on an already installed laptop?

Good morning,

We use this iso several times a day, every day and we have had no problems starting up.
The iso is only UEFI compatible, and have you also checked that you have Secure Boot Disabled?
Have you tried another USB? With what software are you putting the iso in the USB? Have you tried Ventoy?

Personally, I don't like to enable encryption manually, but here is a tutorial.

Hello,

Thanks for your quick answer.

The issue was due to the "only UEFI compatible" settings of the image. My VM configuration in qemu was set to BIOS, not UEFI and so it cannot boot properly.

Perfect, then if you change it to UEFI it should work without problems.

FYI, I managed to boot slimbook OS and test disk encryption.
Then I managed to reinstall Slimbook OS with disk encryption too.
