Slimbook Hero freezes when entering or exiting sleep mode

Avatar

Whenever I try to put my laptop into sleep mode (or when trying to wake it up) the fans spin up and the whole system freezes (black screen).  This isn't an extremely urgent request, I know the floods caused damages at Slimbook - and I hope everything is fine now. I couldn't find any solutions on my own.
These drivers are installed:

kernel-firmware-nvidia

kernel-firmware-nvidia-gspx-G06
libnvidia-egl-wayland1
nvidia-compute-G06
nvidia-compute-G06-32bit
nvidia-compute-utils-G06
nvidia-gl-G06
nvidia-gl-G06-32bit
nvidia-open-driver-G06-signed-kmp-default
nvidia-utils-G06
nvidia-video-G06
nvidia-video-G06-32bit
openSUSE-repos-Tumbleweed-NVIDIA

Should I uninstall something or what should I try to solve this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Good morning,

I would tell you to try to change the kernel in case it is a problem, or switch from Wayland to X11.

Thank you for your words about the floods, fortunately all the Slimbook team are fine.

Best regards,

Thanks for the ideas.

If I boot with X11 or another kernel, the GPU isn't even 'recognized' (meaning that no apps will use the dGPU)

You may have already taken this into account, but I'll say it in case it might help. Do you have a good swap file/partition? Usually when I've had this kind of problem it's because I haven't had enough swap space or I've set it up wrong.

Thanks, I haven't thought of that. I have a 2GiB linuxswap, I guess that should be enough.

The recommendation is to have a space equal to your RAM since everything you have there will be moved to the swap so as not to lose the info. I think that maybe 2Gb may not be enough. I have had problems with having little space even on a Raspberry Pi, so maybe it is a good option to try to increase it.

>> In reply to Eusebio Giner Slimbook:

I could eventually try with X11. The same problem happens with sleep, except scaling also doesn't work and the device often hangs/freezes even when not sleeping.

Good afternoon,

I think the problem comes from software, I'm afraid you will have to go testing with kernels and drivers to try to find an optimal way for you.
To rule out hardware problem, you can try with a Live USB Ubuntu for example and see if it happens to you.
Best regards,

aZero: I tried making a new 32GB swap partition but the same thing happens

Eusebio Giner Slimbook: I don't think it's a hardware issue either.  I was just hoping someone has experience with this problem on Tumbleweed and could have solution steps.
