Hi,
I received yesterday my Slimbook Excalibur 16 Refresh with AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS. It worked well few hours until it came to finally charge the battery. I plugged it in at 6% and at 10% I noticed that it stopped charging for few seconds (like the charger was disconnected physically) and after that it was charging again but I could smell burnt electronics. I could see in dmesg repeating USB errors (unable to enumerate, bad cable, power cycling). I decided to connect charger to second USB-C port and the laptop powered off immediately and did not want to power on at all.
When I disconnected the battery, the laptop started with charger plugged in to second USB-C port and seemed to work normally. But when plugged to first USB-C port, it did not power on at all. This behavior is the same regardless if the battery is connected or not (it does charge battery and works on battery).
When I connected DELL USB-C charger to second port, the laptop worked normally. When I plugged in this DELL charger to first port, this DELL charger was cutting off power, so this suggests that first USB-C port in my Slimbook has complete short-circuit.
Is it common for this model to have USB-C ports burning/short-circuiting or just my unit is faulty?
Thanks in advance
