Tips: Battery Care and Calibration
Trucos y tips para alargar la vida

Taking care of your laptop battery is important to ensure optimal performance and extended lifespan. By following these tips, you can maximize the lifespan of your electronic devices' batteries. Keep in mind that over time, all batteries will experience a decrease in capacity, but these tips can help slow down that process:

1. Activate BIOS charge limitation: Some of our laptops have the BIOS charge limitation feature set to 60-80%. Constantly using the laptop with the charger plugged in at 100% charge can degrade the battery over time. If your Slimbook is connected to a power source, the battery draws power from that source even if it's installed.

2. Avoid frequent full discharges: Unlike older batteries, modern lithium-ion batteries do not require regular full discharges. In fact, it's better to avoid deep discharges as they can shorten the battery's lifespan.

3. Maintain moderate charge levels: Lithium-ion batteries perform best when kept partially charged. Regularly charge your device instead of waiting for the battery to completely drain. Try to keep the charge level between 20% and 80% whenever possible.

4. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures: Batteries are negatively affected by extremely high or low temperatures. Avoid exposing your laptop to extreme weather conditions and refrain from leaving them in hot places, such as inside a car parked in the sun.

5. Use the original charger: Always use original chargers and cables certified by Slimbook. Charging your devices with uncertified accessories could damage your battery.

6. Update: Keep the operating system, applications, BIOS, and EC updated. Sometimes, software updates include improvements in energy efficiency.

7. Perform occasional charge cycles: Although not necessary frequently, it's recommended to perform a full charge cycle once a month. This involves fully charging the battery and then discharging it to a low level before recharging it.

8. In case of storage: If your Slimbook will be turned off for a long time, it's advisable to do so with the battery at 40-60% and disconnect the external power since the battery discharges slowly even when the equipment is turned off. Leaving the battery at 0% for a long time can break the internal chemistry and stop working.

9. Every cycle shortens battery life: With moderate use, according to Wikipedia, lithium-ion batteries provide approximately 80% of their nominal capacity after 400 cycles or around a year, and this loss is irreversible.
