How to Replace the Keyboard on Essential 15, Elemental 15, and Hero S

Sometimes, failures can occur for a variety of reasons, whether due to accidental damage, hardware malfunctions, or simply natural wear and tear. It's important to note that no computer component is completely immune to issues.

In this tutorial, we'll address one of these common problems: how to replace the keyboard. We'll learn step by step how to successfully perform this task, which can be helpful in situations where the keyboard on your Slimbook is experiencing issues or you simply need to replace it with a new one.

1. First, you need to remove the keyboard screws. In the Hero S model, you can remove the keyboard without taking off the bottom cover. However, for the Essential and Elemental models, you'll need to remove the cover.

2. Then, you need to remove the keyboard. For this, you can use a knife or something sharp enough that can fit between the chassis and the keyboard module and carefully lift the anchoring tabs as shown in the image.


3. Once the tabs are removed, lift the keyboard upwards and leave it near the screen.


4. Gently lift the keyboard towards the screen to reveal the connectors.


5. Connect the cables to their respective connectors as shown in the following image and close the tabs to secure them.
