Executive 16 external monitor resolution settings

Hi there!

I have noticed that monitors connected through usb-C must be connected to the right usb-C port, since the left one does not properly apply resolution scaling preferences. In my case I have a 125% monitor scaling on the main laptop screen, while I want the external display to be at 100% scaling. When using the left usb-C port, the external display is always at the same scaling of my main screen, no matter the settings. The individual preferences only work with the port on the right.

What could be the reason for this?

I am using Linux Mint, kernel 6.8.0-58-generic, on the Slimbook Executive 16 i13 with nvidia.

Thanks!

Here is the external screen connected to the left port:

And connected to the right port, where the scaling works properly:

Hi Pablo,

The left port is a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 [10Gbps] with DisplayPort output, while the right one is a Thunderbolt 4.0 [40Gbps], which offers significantly more bandwidth. It’s possible that your Linux Mint setup, which appears to be using Cinnamon, is encountering a bug that prevents scaling from working properly.

In general, display scaling on Linux is still a work in progress, and KDE currently has the most advanced support in this area. I recommend trying it from a KDE environment—ideally with a local installation and the NVIDIA drivers properly installed, as Live environments typically don’t load NVIDIA drivers and the dedicated GPU may not be in use.

Best regards,

Hi Vaja, Thanks!

Guess it's just easier to use the right port for now. Might try with KDE one day though.

Cheers!
