Switching power profiles (Excalibur on Manjaro)

Avatar

Good day,

I recently received my Excalibur with Manjaro preinstalled. When switching power profiles using the Fn+F10/F11/F12 keys I can see the Slimbook service popup confirming the change. However, the KDE power profile selection remains unchanged. (I have a screenshot but not allowed to post it)

How do I know what profile is actually active and how to get the KDE power profile to update with the Slimbook service?

Hello Claude,

The performance profiles of KDE and Slimbook are different. Let me explain what each one does:

- Fn+F10/F11/F12 adjusts the frequency, fan profile, and watts to the CPU directly from the BIOS. It communicates directly, and the limitation is more precise and reliable.
- However, the KDE profiles are software limitations. For example, if you have Fn+F10 set (10W CPU TDP), then the KDE profiles (Performance, Balanced, Power Saver) operate on top of that 10W TDP.

I’m not sure if I explained it well, but if you don't understand, ask me and I’ll try to answer.

Best regards.
