Problem with Steam (Fedora Slimbook)

Hello,

I own a Fedora Slimbook (the first version with the NVIDIA 3050Ti).

I have Fedora 40 now.

I installed Steam (rpm nonfree) and tried to launch it... but Steamwebhelper keep crashing...


Can somebody help me ?

Hi!

A week (or so) ago I was also having problems with Steam on Fedora 40. I tried disabling hardware acceleration and other little things but it didn't improve much. I don't know about you but I'm using Steam Beta.

Although it sounds crazy, try the following:

  • Open Steam (and I hope it doesn't crash on the attempt :) )

  • Switch to Big Picture mode

  • Exit Big Picture mode

  • Close and open Steam again

Since I did this it hasn't crashed again. Maybe it's a silly thing and it was actually corrected with an update but you can't lose anything by trying it.
