Executive 14 13700H

Hello, I just received the executive, and I have a question regarding the airplane key.

I found Fn+F4 key only working in the installer of Slimbook OS 22. As long as I stay in the installer, the key trigger airplane mode as intended. Anywhere else, the key just don't work (no airplane mode). (tested in Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04, Mint 21.2, Slimbook os 22, Slimbook os 24).

So the key is working in the installer of the slimbook os 22 only (don't start the live session... or it stop working). It's not a hardware problem.... (also, dmesg show output when using the airplane key).

I managed to install slimbook-service and slimbook-qc71-dkms on ubuntu 24.04, which make the notification working when I use Fn+F5 (Silent mode ON/OFF) and the Touchpad LED. But the Fn+F4 key does not activate. I tried other package relevant to the executive, but none of them make this key working).

Not a question, but this laptop was shipped with one dead pixel almost right in the middle of the screen, and the enter and backspace key seems to be not well mounted as they are harder to push than the other key, and sounds bad (like "squish" and something blocking on the way down).

Overall, for now, its a huge disapointement. Sorry to say that.

Hi romain,

About airplane mode some kernels disable this feature, we will investigate it.

On the other hand, I don't understand how this has not been seen by our QA. Please write an email to [email protected] with pictures of the pixels and the space bar.

Hi, first I have to do some clarifications:

* slimbook-qc71-dkms is needed for Fn-F4 to generate a rfkill signal, in fact, a SW_RFKILL_ALL signal.

* slimbook-service does not handle this event as this is something usually handled by Gnome or Plasma.

After some research, we are at this point:

* WORKS on Plasma

* DOES NOT WORK on Gnome

* WORKS on Gdm or tty console.

* WORKS on ProX on both Gnome and Plasma

 Reading syslog it looks like Gnome is inhibiting rfkill signals, but I've checked our driver does emit them. So far... I don't have yet the solution but it looks we are close to find it.
